Pink Pepper

Pink pepper is not actually a pepper. It comes from a totally different species, a shrub of the ragweed family. Native to South America, it is grown on Reunion Island. Like ragweed, it can cause allergies. The red fruits are picked and dried. Their aromatic flavour is slightly spicy. However, pink pepper is not very resistant to grinding. It is mainly used for decoration.
