Ginger

Originally from Southeast Asia, ginger is grown in China, India and Jamaica, among others. The main production source is India. The spice comes from the rhizomes of the plant. White ginger is stripped of its bark, while grey ginger is not. This spice has a hot spicy taste and a delicate but powerful aroma. It is at the base of Asian cuisine and is used to season both salty and sweet foods. It is used to flavour poultry and marinades, among others.
